Meet Jasmine

Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett proudly represents the 30th Congressional District covering parts of Dallas and Tarrant counties.

A battle-tested fighter for the people, she has gone toe-to-toe with Trump, Abbott, and Paxton. Jasmine has been a trusted voice for Texans who feel our state and nation are headed in the wrong direction. Jasmine is a civil rights and criminal defense attorney, small business owner, Congresswoman, and former State Representative.

Jasmine was raised in a very civically-engaged household.

Her father, Joe, was a school teacher and preacher at their home church. Her mother, Gwen, served in the federal government for more than three decades. Together, her parents instilled a sense of faith, a responsibility to serve others, and taught her to never be bullied.

Jasmine graduated from the University of Houston Law Center and kicked off her legal career as a public defender in rural East Texas. As a skilled community organizer, Jasmine won her first election in 2008 as the Bowie County Democratic Party Chair. Later, Jasmine moved to Dallas to expand her law practice as a criminal defense, civil rights, and personal injury attorney.

Frustrated with a system of unjust laws and a state government that wasn’t responding to the everyday needs of Texans, Jasmine rolled up her sleeves, laced up her boots and ran for the Texas House of Representatives. Challenging an incumbent, Jasmine was outspent five to one, but never outworked. She went on to unseat the incumbent by 90 votes out of thousands -- proving that every single vote counts and matters.

Jasmine was sworn in to the Texas House of Representatives in 2021.

That was the same year Texas Republicans passed sweeping bills to ban abortion, make it harder to vote, erase history and rewrite science in schools while doing nothing to address COVID, inflation, or the failing grid.

Jasmine rallied her colleagues and led the charge against the Republicans’ worst attacks earning her the Freshman Lawmaker of the Year award from the National Black Caucus of State Legislators. Recognizing these battles were happening across the country, Jasmine took her fight to the national stage and ran for Texas’ 30th Congressional District, winning a nine-way race.

In Congress, Jasmine has been a consistent champion for the middle-class, young families, senior citizens, labor groups, marginalized and vulnerable communities.

Working closely with the Biden Administration, Jasmine ushered in millions of dollars in resources to her district.

She traveled the nation organizing and rallying democrats ahead of the 2024 election and served as a national co-chair for the Harris-Walz Campaign. Under Trump 2.0, Jasmine has been a leading voice in holding the Trump Administration accountable to the American people and has stood up to bullies like Marjorie Taylor Greene and the President himself.

In the United States Senate, Jasmine will fight hard for you and your loved ones and get Texas back on track.
