Defending Social Security
Increasing the retirement age for Social Security is a non-starter. Instead, we must raise the cap on Social Security so that everyone is paying their fair share. Americans who have worked hard and paid into Social Security their whole lives are counting on this earned benefit. Social Security is more modest than most people realize, yet it is still the largest source of income for so many retirees. We must fully finance Social Security to ensure solvency for generations to come.

In the U.S. Senate, my priorities are clear:
Raise the cap on Social Security.
Reform the tax code so that the top 1% pay their fair share in taxes.
Oppose efforts to weaken Social Security by raising the retirement age.
Oppose all efforts to privatize any portion of social security.

Co-sponsored the Social Security Fairness Act that was signed into law by President Biden.
Co-sponsored the Protection of Social Security Benefits Restoration Act to ensure Americans receive the Social Security, railroad retirement, and black lung benefits they have earned.
Co-sponsored the Stop The Wait Act which phases out the initial waiting period for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and eliminates the waiting period for certain disabled individuals to become eligible for Medicare.
